St Luke’s -
St Luke’s once again showed its generous heart last weekend. For, at the Saturday coffee morning the excellent figure of £530 was raised in a few hours for the continuing work of the church. Then on Sunday at a special appeal after worship collected f £350 towards a special wheelchair for a little girl paralysed in Nigeria.
Well done all and thanks again!

Sunday School Gives Generously!
At this morning’s service, our Sunday School gave a very generous £200 to the Indian ‘Lighthouse’ Project to bring deprived students to Dundee to study. Mr Alan Duncan of the Grey Lodge Settlement received the cheque of this project’s behalf and addressed the whole congregation upon the needs of many young people in the Third World.

New CD Service
A new service on CD is now available and is based on last Sunday’s service. The sermon is the first in a three part series on the Ten Commandments. For a copy please contact the Minister (779212)

New Choir Rehearsals
Tonight saw the first of our new monthly Choir rehearsals. These informal sessions are aimed at increasing the repertoire especially for ‘big occasions’ such as Remembrance Day and Christmas. So if you can sing or would like to learn then please contact our Musical Director, Steven Peters, or the Minister for all are most welcome!

Big Screen!
Once again today the Big Screen was in use providing both graphics for the Sermon
an other items of worship as well as words for some of the hymns. In this age when
we learn as much by seeing as hearing having the ability illustrate a talk is a distinct
plus particularly for younger people -

Superb Elders’ Service
Yesterday the whole congregation of St Luke’s was uplifted by a excellent service
lead by its elders. Afterwards, our Minister remarked -
This Sunday (31 August) will see the start of a new series of sermons looking at the Ten Commandments and what they have to say to this beautiful planet beset by so many problems.
28 June
New Church Hymnary is launched
Tomorrow will see the first use of the new Church of Scotland Hymnary (CH4) in St Luke’s. It will start with the Choir using it’s material for an extra anthem. But next week, our congregation will have a go with words displayed on our big screen.

Board & Session Meeting
At tonight’s meeting of the Board, we heard that to meet new legislation all formal document of St Luke’s must now have:

The Session were pleased to hear that 56 members took Easter Communion with 96 attending the Garden service and around 160 the main Morning Service. The Fun(d) Raising Committee were congratulated in meeting the demand for bacon rolls!
The Session also heard of Presbytery’s acceptance of our Quinquennial Report and their congratulations to us. Further details will be seen her soon.
