Caim Returns to St Luke’s

Last night saw a superb evening of Celtic spiritual music with Caim - the singing duo. Then, this morning, Jacynth and Heather joined us for worship and taught both young and old some new songs and a dance! With a wonderful blend of traditional and newer Celtic song and story, throughout the weekend, Caim’s ‘audiences’ was enthralled.

Sunday School Donation to ‘Lifeboats’

Today our Sunday School gave over a cheque for £500 to Chris and Steven from our local Lifeboat station. Elder Daryl Mckeown told the congregation ‘that it was very appropriate as is 50 years since the Mona disaster’. The two Lifeboatmen had the chance to chat to our children later and tell them something of the courageous work that the RNLI does round our coasts daily .

Elders’ Conference

Today St Luke’s Elders had a most enjoyable and fruitful conference superbly led by Rev Andy Campbell. At its completion a clear way had been identified to lead St Luke’s into this new decade and as a foundation for some exciting initiatives. The day closed with an agreement to have further conferences throughout the year to engage the whole congregation in our life, work and worship.

Haiti Appeal

An ad hoc collection taken to aid the victims of the Haitian Earthquake this Sunday raised nearly £250; our minister said -what an excellent response at short notice. When this is added to the £876 given to Help for Heroes it really shows how generous people can be when they see the need ’.

Christmas Bazaar

Last weekend saw a most enjoyable Christmas Bazaar that raised over £1100 for Church Funds. The Minister thanked everyone for their hard work and said it would be an excellent baseline for next year’s fund-raising.

MP Receives Climate Scroll

Our MP, Stewart Hosie, was presented with the Climate Change Scroll we recently produced at Sunday Children’s Christmas Craft Workshop.  Stewart promised it would be given to his party’s delegation at Copenhagen

Big Sing Success!

Today over 100 attended the St Luke’s Carol Service in aid of The Moderator’s HIV/AIDS Appeal. Not only were the congregation uplifted by Christmas hymns old and new, they also enjoyed wonderful singing by our soloists Kirsty Allison and David Wilson and the McAra duet. The event was rounded of my refreshments  and fellowship before leaving into a very cold evening!
