Moses is regarded by the Jewish religion as the archetypal leader. Yet when he set out that day of the burning bush, he had no idea that his life would be changed by an encounter with God. But there again, God is constantly surprising us not least by meeting us in all sorts of places. In fact, he can meet us even in the most familiar. That is what maybe happened to Peter when speaking to his friend. Up until Jesus asked him who he was, Peter probably hadn’t the answer. Yet when face to face with the ultimate truth, he had the answer and was blessed for it.
